An event highlight in a class of its own
On October 30, 2023, Zurich’s Albisgüetli became the vibrant center of the hairdressing industry. With around 450 participants from Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France and Italy, the 5th Friends of Intercoiffure Suisse Day was not only an impressive gathering of industry experts, but also THE fall highlight for all hair stylists and fashion enthusiasts. The atmosphere was characterized by a rousing mood, collective energy, motivation and enthusiasm. The program unfolded as a firework display of show, inspiration, education and trends. Visitors actively used the opportunity to experience the latest trends up close and take away valuable new ideas for their own salons.
Intercoiffure Suisse, an institution that stands for excellence and innovation in the hairdressing industry, once again opened its doors to the general public and salons that are not yet members. A step that proved to be a complete success. The Day of Friends became a place where the shared passion for the hairdressing community was palpable and exuded the spirit of working together to make a difference in the industry.
Among the highlights were the various presentation stands of leading industry representatives from Switzerland. Also present were: Goldwell, L’Oréal Professionell Paris, Keune, La Biosthétique, Blue Box, Marwell, ROWA Huwiler, Beneganic, Trinity and Mike Karg, who presented an impressive range of topics: from new products and innovations to educational offers and new services, tools and salon technology – there was something for everyone. The topics of sustainability and environmental friendliness for the salon were not missing either. The opportunity to exchange ideas directly with these industry representatives was an invaluable added value for many hairdressers.
The program: A firework of inspiration for hairdressers
Beneganic opened the show program with a captivating lecture by Dr. Fred Harms on the importance of hair health. Immediately afterwards, the Trinity team exclusively presented its new product, the innovative “BLOND” series, with an inspiring stage workshop. Crowd favorite Mike Karg delighted the audience with his charm and in-depth knowledge of dry cutting. Afterwards, L’Oréal Professionell Paris provided the audience with a double dose of inspiration: none other than Claudio Tolardo gave insights into the premium salon concepts of the future, while Carlos Barroca enchanted the audience with a breathtaking trend show on stage. The models and his styles attracted everyone’s attention and his positive spirit captivated the audience.
The positive energy in the room was also palpable when Dennis van Lierop from the HALO Academy took to the stage and gave a visionary talk entitled “The salons of the future are diverse!”. This wake-up call to the industry was followed by the presentation on the Swiss Wedding Award 2023 where the owner and founder of the award Maja Gigertogether with Selina Holliger showed how the Salon Intercoiffure Cosmetics Holliger from Sengen managed to win one of the coveted awards this year and receive the 15 gold ribbons that go with it.
The Blue Box team created great enthusiasm in the audience with an impressive trend fashion show by Kevin Murphy with actor Giulio Falcone. The models radiated an irresistible elegance and embodied the latest trends in an enchanting way. Every look was thought through down to the smallest detail and showed the creative brilliance of the team. Sandra Engstle, education actor for the premium extension brand Showpony, continued this fascinating live show and demonstrated expressive long hair looks that can be created in no time at all with Showpony’s Halo Clip Extensions.
Followed by Goldwell with Martin Dürrenmatt, whose show “Silver Ladies” provided another highlight of the day. The attractive silver and gray looks he created with ELUMEN were a real eye-catcher! He, his team and the models radiated pure positive energy on stage and in the audience. He not only presented beautiful silver hair looks with attractive best-ager models, but also created a sensational live transformation on stage, from dress to hairstyle. René Wagner and Jasmine Gubler then presented the Intercoiffure Suisse Trends 2024. With their preview of the coming year and insights into the specialist techniques they used for the new collection, they created anticipation for the new trend looks on stage. In addition, the audience had the privilege of experiencing the exclusive premiere of the new Intercoiffure Suisse image video, which will be released in the coming weeks together with the new trend collection.
With the “ARTE-fact” show by the Fondation Guillaume Switzerland under the direction of Sandra Mariño, the young talents of Intercoiffure Suisse presented artistic looks that caught the eye. The young creatives held a shoot on site and presented their results on stage. Their consistently creative works were met with great enthusiasm by the audience. At the grand finale, the strong fashion show “LIMITLESS SELF EXPRESSION”, the STF, the renowned Swiss textile school, showed its impressive final projects in a perfect interplay of fashion and hair under the hair-fashion direction of Roger Rogenmoser from the Intercoiffure Suisse fashion team. Finally, Intercoiffure Suisse President Cornelia Fabbricatore brought all the players and industry representatives on stage for the audience, which was greeted with great encouragement and applause from the audience. Here she also honored Marc Menden for his services during his 8-year term as Fashion Director of Intercoiffure Suisse. DJ Rolf Imhof provided the exuberant party atmosphere at the end of this successful event with his rousing dance music.
An unforgettable day full of inspiration and enthusiasm!
In conclusion, the 5th Friends of Intercoiffure Suisse Day was a complete success and once again showed how lively, creative and diverse the hairdressing trade is. Marc Menden, the responsible organizer of Intercoiffure Suisse, summed up the day with the words: “With this Friends’ Day, we not only celebrated the art of hairdressing, but also the community, passion and commitment of each individual. This day showed that we are stronger together and that the future of the hairdressing industry is in good hands. We are already looking forward to next year!”
